A renovated Yangon apartment with sculpted cove-lit ceilings, a batten and hexagon shelf screen, and a timber shrine bay set against the street windows.

The renovation reshapes a conventional apartment plan with layered plasterboard ceilings. Each room carries its own dropped shape, curved and angled, outlined in slim timber trim with concealed cove lighting behind it and flush circular fittings set into the flat centres. The effect carries down the corridor, where the ceiling narrows into a long tapered tray above the shrine bay.

A screen of white vertical battens divides the entrance corridor from the living room without closing it off. Hexagonal timber-framed shelves and a mirror are hung within the battens at different heights. The shrine sits opposite, a carved teak altar with a gilded Buddha image, placed against a bank of white timber casement windows looking down onto the street.

The living room is floored in hardwood strip and furnished with the family's cane-seated hardwood chairs, settee and low table, with framed portraits along the wall. The kitchen and dining area is tiled in white with an inlaid black marble-effect border, and fitted with a stainless steel base run, a black worktop and sink, and white wall cabinets.

The set also includes the design visualisations prepared for the work, showing the shrine and living room with the batten screen in place, and a bedroom with a sliding-door wardrobe, curved corner shelving and a dressing table lit by a frame of bulbs. Bathroom photographs record the tiling stage, with patterned wall tile, a border course and a built-in bath surround before the fittings went in.
