A two-storey house under construction in Yangon, a steel frame on concrete foundations with brick walls, built to the design shown in the renders.
01 / 03
The house is under construction. Its brick walls are up, and the outside is plastered grey under a metal roof. Bamboo scaffolding still stands against the walls in some photographs. Inside, brick partitions divide the rooms. Red-primed steel columns and beams carry the floor above, and a steel stair leads up. The floors are still bare sand, and the walls are rendered but not painted.

Earlier photographs show the steel frame. The roof is sheeted in corrugated metal, with workers fixing it from above. Before that, the upper floor is decked and the pitched roof frame stands open to the sky. Lower down, the first columns and beams are bolted together on the concrete base. Trees surround the plot, with site huts under green sheeting close by.
03 / 03
The foundations come first. Brick footings and reinforced concrete ground beams are cast in timber formwork, with starter bars left for the frame. Steel members are laid out on the beams, ready to be lifted. Rain has filled the ground between the beams in several photographs. The renders show the design: a white house with black window frames, a dark pitched roof and a raised terrace.
